Why did you join the Junior League?

Once I left public accounting, I was no longer traveling every week for work and had more free time available.  I made a conscious decision that I wanted to use my free time to give back to the community. As we all know JLO is an amazing organization, committed to promoting voluntarism.  It was a perfect fit.

Tell us about your family?   Casey and I have two children, Harper (2 yrs) and Kashton (8 mos).

Pets: Logan and Layla (Shih Tzus)

Hometown: Papillion

College: UNL

Sorority: Alpha Chi Omega

Job/Business: Global Tax Director, CPA

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?Marsh_Shelly photos (2)

Meeting my husband, Casey.  Life. Changing. Moment.  There are no words I could write to adequately explain how remarkable he is. Without him, I would not be able to put in the hours I do at the office and volunteer the amount I do, while having two small children at home.  He is truly my life partner.

What is your favorite thing about living in Omaha?

Most importantly, I love living here because my family is here.  Other great perks are the CWS and the local music scene.

What other organizations are you affiliated with?

Omaha Venture Group, The Rose Guild, Alpha Chi Omega HCB, Tax Executives Institute

What is your favorite song?

Into the Mystic – Van Morrison

If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go?

At the top of my list is to dive the Great Barrier Reef.  I love traveling and love adventure.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know?

I’m taking freestyle swimming lessons for the first time.  I joke that I taught myself how to swim, and did a poor job.  Ironically, I was a certified life guard in college.

What are you most proud of?

My determination.

What is one of your favorite quotes?

How about three!

Success occurs when opportunity meets preparation. – Zig Ziglar

Be responsible for the energy you bring into a space. – Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor

Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down. – Oprah
